I keep checking the ride website every day or two looking for details on the exact route. I am guessing that some of you have already done the Mtl --> Quebec route and there are probably not too many route choices.
Does anyone know what route we will be taking? Are there any bike paths ? Or, is it mostly country roads? I asked at an orientation session but no info was given.
I went to the Gear up yesterday. The girl told me that will not release the route before July 10th. We will receive a little booklet telling us the way to go.
Thanks for the link to the old thread. So, best guess seems to be the north side of the river. I hope it is a nice day (no rain) with very little wind.
Thanks for the link. It looks great, lots of country roads. I hope the roads are in better shape than some I have been on lately on the south shore of Montreal. I have been through spokes twice this year from what I am guessing as big potholes. I had to replace my back wheel last week with a double layered heavy duty one. The one I was riding on was bent too much to repair!
On the bright side, I just looked up the long range forecast on Accuweather.com and it is calling for b e a u t i f u l weather with low wind predictions. I hope the forecast holds.
The clues I have seem to indicate that we would be taking route 138 along the north shore. It goes right to the overnight location on rue Laviolette, and right to boulevard Wilfrid-Hamel, the ending point. Even without people pointing the way, it's easy to follow the signs. I presume they will have some detours off route 138, even if just to prove that they took great pains to work out the "best" route.
It's not a bad route. Once you're out of Repentigny, there's not too much traffic. I was on it June 24th, as far as Berthierville (about halfway to Trois-Rivieres), but from there, I went to St-Ignace-de-Loyla and took the ferry across the river to Sorel and came back to Montreal via the south shore.
I every one, Even with just one week before the show we found a new teamate. Maude will pedal with us and she is helping big way our team funraising.
For three weeks now, Alain and I were on the slow side after raising $ 8005.00 at $ 1495.00 from our target.. But Maude is starting her fund raising and she's doing very well so far... Maude raised more than $ 600.00 in the last three day, so tonight, we are just about to reach our goal of $ 9500.00 for the three of us!!! There is only a small $ 165.00 missing. Thank's Maude!!!
As far as training goes...the weather is not on our side. last sunday Alain and I manage to ride a 115 km with the VéloSélect Club starting in Châteauguay.
This week, thunderstorms on monday night, the ride was cancelled. Thunderstorms on wednesday night, the ride was cancelled again. Tonight I manage to do a 45 km ride alone against the wind and sunday the three of us are planning to do a 120km. After that it will be THE DAY and I am really excited to meet the group and ride in that motivating pack!!!!
Hoping to see you soon...

Les kilomètres pédalés sont désormais derrière nous...Vivement que les prochains arrivent.
I called the 1-866 number a couple of days ago. According to the person I spoke to, she said that the route is 279.6 kms. And, we are going to get a surprise gift tomorrow morning. A map. There are some detours along the route due to construction.
I hope that the maps are plasticized... in case of a little wet weather.
