RE: TRAINING RIDES

Have not checked the weather for the coming weekend, If weather permits I will probably ride Sarturday or Sunday, if anyone interested let me know. Please give me a call 450-358-5836. I could arrange timing, other wise when i ride solo often I leave at 6:30 7:00 in morning. I know a nice 124km,and yes it is mostly packed hard bike path or paved bike path. The weather forecast this week looks like I might get a big ride in on Thursday only, who is controlling this weather? It must be someone who does not do biking.

Did 125km yesterday with Serge (aka - training ride meister) & friends - and folks we hit the WIND portion of our training schedule - almost the entire ride. Let me tell you - I looked down at one point and saw 13!!...We'd get blown sideways & sometimes what felt like backwards... Exhausting - and requiring a different type of mental conditioning - no longer about speed - but just keeping your head down, focusing on the bike ahead of you, keeping a steady pace, and hoping for a turn in the road to give the legs a break!

One last big one on Saturday (HOT this time!) - then that's it! A few spinning classes next week - otherwise - that's it - Im as ready as I'll ever be - Quebec here I come! WOOHOO!!

Some one want s to do a 124 km to-morrow give me a call 1-450-358-5836 could meet in Chambly. Would prefer early take of to avoid afternoon heat. take-off 7:00 should be in chambly 8:00 or be in chambly 9:00 Yes even 10:00 it is that if you leave chambly at 9:00 you could be full trip by 3:00 4:00 so the earlier take off the better.

It's rest legs time but if you're out there ride slow, safe, and drink a bit of hydration but very often.

I've got people all over North America speaking with Mother Nature and something must be working - the thundershowers have been down-graded to rain - that's SOMEthing.  If the heat wave gets too intense today, maybe we can get that instable air mass to break earlier rather than later and we can have clear sailing for Saturday.  Let's put our collective energy behind this, people!!!  Quebec City, here we come!

Whatever prayers or dances people are doing it seems to be working! The Saturday forecast went from Thunderstorms to rain to cloudy with showers and now all the way down to periods of rain.

Here's hoping it kees getting downgraded!

I love this trend - and the wind is keeping at bay as well.  Thank you Mother Nature - now can you do something about the humidity??? Pretty please!

The humidity will present some challenges for us this year. We'll need many sunsceen applications and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Here's some ideas for successful riding in HOT and HUMID conditions.
Drink small amounts often, too much at one time could upset your stomach.
Rest in the shade at pit stops.
Wet your head at the pit stops.
Wear a wet neckband.
Reduce your pace.
Look out for each other.

Please anyone else have some helpful hints.

thanks for the info, I think with the weather forecast, hot humid, rain, hope for a warm rain and sun in the afternoon on saturday and sunday.
The info on drinking and coling off are very important, we need to help the riders to use the common sense, to avoid heat exhaustion, hydrating, even when it rains if it is hot humid you need fluids.
