Hill Training

Hills are my nemesis.  I'm a little freaked about the "big hill" at the end of the ride to Quebec City, so I'd like to try and get over my hatred of hills before the ride.

I'm hoping to get some hill recommendations, places in and around Montreal with hills that match (more or less) the distance and slope of what we're going to be faced with approaching Quebec... I'm also hoping for a little variety, since if I asked anyone I know they'd just say "Mount Royal!"

Thanks!

Mount Royal is way bigger then any hills we will be up against.  The hills outside of Quebec City are not so bad.  Some are long and a gradual increase up. None are too steep.  BUT if you want all the hills to feel like bunny hills train on Mount Royal!
I train on the Hudson hills and I was and will be ready for the Q. C. hills.

Day 1 is only "Bumps" no major hills. Day 2, only at the end, but the biggest is only about 1Km long and it is not that bad. And as Broadway says, Mount Royal is over training for what you will see.

PS: Come out on May 16th for the training ride.

Ok, this is good to know! I know after two solid days of riding that little hill is going to FEEL way worse than it actually is... Maybe I'll just stick to conquering Viau between the stadium and the park :P

I'm all signed up for the training ride on Sunday AND for the défi metropolitain!

Just remember use your gears to achieve your best on the hills, and remember when you reach the lowest gear, that is when the LEGS gear comes most important, endurance training helps the legs, and do not strain, if you really are having a bit of trouble with a hill, pull to the side and get off the bike and walk the distance up the hill, it is better the ride across finish line then to push the bike down the hill because you pulled a muscle trying to go up the hill.

Just was reading this old note, I learned alot about riding, but what I learn the most probably is how to ride the hills, and I play on developing methode to practice the hill climb, like I said earlier in the year use those gears. Train youself for hills each person may have a different method of conquering the HILLS. You need to learn what works best for you. Like we all know YOU NEED TO PEDAL THE BIKE NO ONE CAN DO IT FOR YOU. IN CASE HAVE A GOOD WINTER, keep up training get ahead of the game plan winter training, with a more in depth late winter early spring pick up and Yes head for Gold for the training before the DAY.
